Here is the race story on the SCCA web site. The race video (shown live) will not be available on the SCCA web site until they archive them.

I saw it. Lot of contact in the last several laps, no sure why.
Really too bad that Ed had problems on the last lap.

Top 3 cars passed inspection.
But SLOW is protesting Andy's driving on lap 1. Believing Andy had throw his door into the front of toms car LoL Last edited by aszilagyi; 09-23-2016 at 08:28 PM. Reason: More insite |

There is no room for what Sloe did and needs to be banned. That is just crazy, waiting for Andy so he could retaliate.

It's not retaliation when SLOW caused both the first and second impacts to the # 24 ![]() And there still counting the hits he dished out to other racers. As he stormed back through the field. ![]() Sad fact is he, Slow. Was willing to scrap his second place finish ( 27 seconds back from the leader) If he was not going to win. No one was ! Way past disturbing ! |

Beyond the fact that Sloe was willing to give up his 2nd place finish, is the fact he willingly and purposely damaged Andy's car, his OWN car, and risk bodily injury to either of them, not to mention any other competitor who could possibly have been collected in the crash. It's outrageous, dangerous, completely irrational, and should constitute a lifetime ban from the SCCA IMO.
A spectator video of the incident has already been viewed over 6K times, and I have read multiple statements that have labeled this incident "typical" for AS, liking it to NASCAR. Even Spec Miata has a letter addressed to this years competitors that is circulating telling them that they can show "class" by running a clean, hard fough Championship race, unlike some "other" classes. Yes, AS can be a bit rough and tumble at times, it's the nature of our cars, but we don't need to perpetuate the stigma that we are a hot headed, reckless, and dangerous group. I love the AS community, I think they are the best guys in the world to run with, and I'd hate to see the class's reputation be damaged anymore by a classless act by one individual. Rant over. |
