As a former AS competitor this was totally uncalled for, I am astonished at the actions taken by Tom Sloe, I thought he was a better act than that. In my opinion the SCCA should take the proper action and ban Tom. He not only endangered himself but also endangered his fellow competitors with no regard for the end result.

Should be criminal charges. You can't pull a gun and shoot someone on the race track either. No different.

It is a sad day for American Sedan.
That will become a historical marker for the entire club. We now have a clear line that should not be crossed. |

I have raced with SCCA for 41years, have been involved with car to car contact on numerous occasions (although not enough for me to consider it a problem) and I have never thrown paper in all that time...... Until 10 minutes after I got out of my car on Friday. I was still soaking wet in my driver's suit when I filed the protest. This was before I knew anything about Andy's deal. Same player, different contacts. Notice the "s" on the end of contact.
More to follow. Congrats to Andy, Philip, John, Danny, Brian (Tom) and Jerry, for their trophy efforts. |

It was not a sad day for ASedan. It was a sad day for one troubled individual. It was a wonderful week. Despite my mechanical problem that showed up on the grid, I had a great time. Special thanks to Philip and Ellen Smith, and Pam Richardson, for the excellent ASedan party. Superb food, wine and beer and lots of ASedan racers and crew members. One of the highlights of the week. Lots of drama on the track and in the courts, but Tech was flawless.

From George Sollish:
First, thanks everyone for another another year of great racing. If at times American Sedan isn't pretty it is almost always exciting. We are proud to support you. Regarding the Runoffs, congratulations to Andy, a class act, an amazing driver and a good friend, for not breaking and the win. Our sincere condolences to Ed, who did everything right and, but for his hardware, should have won. I'm reminded of the Nantucket whalers who pulled to 'A dead whale or a stove boat'. Thanks to Danny, Jerry, Jim, Tom, Ted, Mark and Brian for carrying the Auto Gear banner, and for telling us when and where our products might be better. And thanks to Philip and John and all those who don't drive Auto Gear, for reminding us we still have fields to conquer. On to Indy! Auto Gear Chief Engineer George E Sollish |
