Default Transmissions

Joe --

Please submit a letter requesting this. It is the only way a change can happen.

The CRB and ASAC attempted at last year's Runoffs to get data from a car with a dog ring box in order to assess this issue. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons that don't need to be discussed here, that didn't happen.

Not sure if a dog ring transmission will be at the Runoffs, but, if so, please chime in, so that the potential to capture data could be known.

Thanks, Pam

This was actually just discussed and it was decided, like Pam says, that there was no data available that would support a change.

I ran one at the Runoffs. At the current weight, you will not be competitive. If you want to know what happened at the runoffs, PM me for details.

Default Data analysis

FYI, to everyone.

The current data analysis process the ASAC is using is providing excellent comparisons of competitiveness among cars. While we can't say (no dog ring box data) whether at the current weight a dog ring car can be competitive or not, the analysis comparing data from different cars at the same tracks is providing insight into driving behaviors that may or may not be competitive.

So far, the ASAC has not seen a need for weight adjustments for any of the cars. When you put the data side-by-side, however, quite often the differences appear in driving behavior, rather than car capability.

The ASAC will continue to review data as part of the process to determine if weight adjustments are needed.

Can you tell us which cars have had logging and at which tracks?

I know I had logging in my car at Auto Club Speedway. I don't remember if Butch put the logger into my car at any other track or not.

Default Data analysis

Nothing from Auto Club for 2014 is posted on the CRB website.

SCCA data we did look at was Majors races at Eagles Canyon, Hallett, and Road America. You are welcome to look at results on the SCCA website for these races to get some idea of what cars probably had data boxes in them.

Also, we are in the process of an analysis across two race weekends at Summit Point (currently) with some private data to look at one specific situation.

The ASAC's next telecon is September 8 and one topic will be data collection at the Runoffs.
