Then the windows need to be tinted very dark. Racers have an image to protect. After all racing is a family activity (except at Talladega.)

That dude just petitioned the CRB to raise the minimum weight for all ASedans. He says he can't get his car down to the legal weight, despite using exhaust tubing for the roll cage.

both T2 and AS list the CTS-V. In my opinion, the V6 car is not a CTS-V and therefore would not be allowed in either class.
Thanks for all of the responses guys. Jim I was pretty sure what you said above about a converted car not being legal in T2 and therefore not legal as an AS car. But I was looking for a little clarification from those that are used to interpreting the rules. The only foggy part for me was that I'm sure there are a few converted V6 AS cars out there, and I figured as long as you used all legal CTS-V parts....

Anyways a little add-on question, what wiring modifications are allowed to in this class? In a V could you run a stand-alone harness and ECM while getting rid of the BCM and other modules and wireing? Thanks again guys, Keith.

No. You need to comply with the total engine and drive train section of the touring rules.

No alternate computer, no removal of the 3 rubber donuts in the drive shaft, no replacing the 50 pounds clutch and flywheel, etc.

I suppose technically you can put a Motec inside the factory computer, but you need to keep the unmolested factory harness.

Scott is correct. You can, however, remove the lights and horn, etc. and get rid of all that wiring. Anything that does not have to do with the stock drive train is covered by the ASAC rules.

You can't replace that train-wreck between the engine and trans that they call a clutch! That takes a little shine off my sparkling thoughts.

You can replace everything, if you want to be a real ASedan, with a carburetor.

Looking like the f-body is the route to go. Thanks everyone for your input, I have been wanting to ask some questions for a couple of months but I have been going back and forth reading stuff here then going to the GCR for things I needed to clarify in my head. I guess now the hunt is on for a car, I'll be lurking around in the meantime. Thanks again, Keith.

Keith, for what it is worth, the Touring cars just don't have many clutch failures. Knock on wood..........I have had one and I have filled at least 5 log books. Since you won't be launching the 2 tons from a dead stop, the clutches are pretty much bullit proof. Good Luck.

Wheeler is a old school AS guy so he thinks if a part of a car isn't touching his hands, his feet or the ground that you should unbolt and remove said part. Be careful careful with that because some of these newer computer controlled cars won't start if the headlight isn't plugged in. The CTSV was very touchy when it came to computer and wiring. Best thing advise is to leave that stuff alone.

I here you on the failures for the V clutch ASGTO, but I can tell you from experience with our V that between the weight (48lb flywheel alone!) and the fact that it is a dual-mass makes it very cumbersome and difficult to rev match. Also when you combine the dual-mass with the rubber doughnut drive shaft couplers you get a spongy feeling on engagement. Feels nothing like an F-body or GTO.
