Default Connecting Rods

I believe the con rod rule limits I-beam rods only. I have talked to numerous engine builders and no one can understand why? They all say there is absolutely no performance difference between I-beam and H-beam. Can anyone explain what I may be missing? Jerry Hartman

Jerry,

OK, if there is no performance advantage, actually the I beams are usually lighter than the H beams, cheaper too, why worry about it?

I guess if you have a set laying around it might be nice to be able to use them, but why fight this battle?? Use the legal, cheaper, lighter, just as strong I beams and save a few bucks, you can use the extra cash to buy beer

The rule says.
Any rod meeting the AS specs are permitted.
forged steel/cast iron (No Billet)

Where does it say anything about H or I rods? Maybe I missed it.
