Default Cat National

Saturday was a great, close battle. Phil, Chris, Ed and I ran pretty much nose to tail and side by side the entire race. Ed and I went side by side seemingly for half a lap. All 4 cars (LP Caddy, FP Mustang, FP Fox Body, FP camaro) seemed to be identical in terms of acceleration, and very close on braking. I made an unforced error on lap 8 and spun in turn 8, losing the group. Results were Phil, Ed, Chris, Me.

Sunday was one of those races that make you question your participation in the sport. Terrible race on my part, could not get faster than a 34. Car would not turn, would not stop, would not carry speed in the corners. I realize now my mistake: When John Buttermore offers you a set of 2 heat cycle A7's, do not accept them. Run your sticker A6's.

I thought it was a good decision, since I have been having good luck getting 6-7 decent heat cycles out of the A7's. Saturday was run on 6 cycle A7's and the car was hooked up solid.

JB must really, really burn up tires, and, needless to say it was not a good decision.

I don't know how the actual race part of the race went.

Scott great time and good racing. Sunday's race was a walk in the park for Ed. CP and I battled for a bit but he was stronger that day and I made a few mistakes and he had a pretty easy race. The GT2 #60 should really leave us alone.

Agreed that the cars seemed pretty even. If you miss the set up or do not bring your A game there are no easy wins.

Well, that is interesting.

One thing I noticed Sunday was that my shift points on the front straight were much later than usual. Mentally I attributed that to a perceived bad corner exit due to tires.

Not so:

I looked at my data, and I was sliding around because I was pushing harder than "normal". Most of my apex speeds and exit speeds were the same, or slightly faster on Sunday than on Saturday. Turn 14, every lap of both races my exit speed was within 1 mph.

BUT, my top speed was down over 7 MPH.

We just put the car on the dyno, and it is 17 HP down.

We are looking into why now.

Can't go fast at RA without getting the kink right.

I have always been good at the kink but I suck at turn 5.

I seem to remember one time you weren't so good in the kink.

Phil,

I'll trade ya.....

Ever since I did the wall to wall there in the cup car, I just can't carry speed there. It get's twitchy, and next lap I slow down.

I don't have that issue at any other track

Jim is right that I also bought a new race car in the kink. Not much fun but i knew exactly what I did wrong and really learned from it. After that I have been pretty good there.

I also remember that you were behind me when I went four off in the mud there. Still a challenge.
