Default Auto Club Speedway Majors Results

Race 1

1 - Chris Qualls, 1:52.xxx
2 - Kevin Smith, 1:55.xxx
DNS - Dylan Olsen

Dylan had tons of car issues over the weekend, final straw was throwing
belts, overheating, blowing a head gasket, with no replacement to be found
in whole LA area.

Temps were about 85, nice sunny and very warm California weather.
Bill Schepergerdes was registered, came by and said hi on Saturday. Seems
he lost oil pressure last week during testing, and the car wasn't ready to
be raced because of that. It was great meeting and talking with Bill, he gave
me a few tips on running the track. Aaron Bailey was registered earlier in the
month, but must have pulled his entry. Don't know why.

Race 2
1 - Chris Qualls, 1:53.xxx
2 - Kevin Smith, 1:54.xxx
DNS - Dylan Olsen

This race was uneventful, but at least this time I kept Chris in sight
for the first 5 or 6 laps. I was happy to come up to "reasonable" speed on
my first weekend on a new track.

Doing a Roval is definitely a new experience. Top speed was 151 according
to the data acquisition. Starting into the corner at that speed is definitely
an interesting feeling.

Thanks for the report. As an added item of interest, David Ray, in his Spec Mustang, ran in T2 and turned a 1:53.1 with the stock engine limiter kicking in at 135 mph on the straight. They must run the stock ECU, as per the Spec Mustang rules.

Yes, I noticed that. He finished just ahead of me in Sunday's race,
and DNFed in Saturday's. His HP didn't seem down very much compared
to mine, and he definitely braked and stuck better. And I just chassis dynoed
my car before Thanksgiving, and I know I am way better than 315 rwhp.
I am glad he can run in T2. I don't think I believe his rev limiter was kicking
in at 135. I'd have really noticed catching up with him on the banking
and my data acq calculated I was going 148-151 consistently.

BTW, For both Saturday and Sunday races, Butch Kummer put an SCCA
data acquisition box in my car. He promised that if I sent him email, that
once the data was downloaded he would send it to me. I need to send
that email off. I bet David's car had a data acq from SCCA as well .

Yes, his car had data. That data will all be down loaded by SCCA staff to use to stay on top of the various cars' competitive balance.
Not sure about the 135, but that was what was told to me. I would guess that would be an awfully low speed limit, but really don't know.
