Unless I missed something on the race time cards, the fastest Start/Finish speed was a 169.5 by Ed Hosni, in a Fox Body.

I did a quick click-thru of the posted results, and unless I missed it, Heinricy had the fastest recorded speed of the week during qually at 171.3. That's in a GM 4th gen. Sloe (170.9), Smith (170.2) and Heinricy were the only cars to top 170 during the week. In the race, it was Hosni at 169, Smith and Heinricy at 168 and Andy at 165. Back to Philip's question...

But the purpose of Philips questions and your data is to lobby for a weight break for the third gen gm cars yes?

The best i got at Daytona was 170.1 with one hell of a tow in qualifying from Scott Sanda. In the race Ed hit 169 and I hit 169 at the exact same time when i was drafting him (I think). I believe it is a geometry issue in the cornering capabilities. If you look at the two oldest cars in the class you have the 3rd gen and the fox body. The foxbody is nimble and light to make up for its geometry downfall. The camaro sloshes around like a keg being rolled across the backyard.

The ASAC is in the process of conducting a lot of research on several fronts to look at balancing cars in terms of performance. This is for ALL cars. Philip posted his questions to stimulate discussion. If forum members have ideas, please suggest them. The ASAC also has ideas and is pursuing them through this research. The new Ad Hoc will be looking at the future as well.
Just to be clear, weight is not always the answer. Sometimes small changes can help with parity. As a class we should all be working to evolve into the future so that we can continue to enjoy our class. Pam |

Quite a bit of data was gathered at the Runoffs this year in several classes, including ASedan. Daytona was really not the best place to gather data, but MidO is just about perfect, with a technical and fast sections.

Jim:
What type of data was gathered from Mid-Ohio that you will utilize to make rule changes? Will you make it available for all ASedan racers to analyze as well? |

I don't get it. Camaro has lower cg, wider track, and longer wheel base. That's if you think the Fox Mustang has an advantage. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
