Kyle came out on his game and set the bar early in the session with Philip Smith fast early in the session. Wheeler got up to speed on lap 4. You could see Andy and Ed "learn" the track and get faster as the session went on. In the end, session one went to Ed Hosni. Nice job Ed.

The top ten went like this:
Hosni 1:54.012
Watkins 54.141
Wheeler 54.330
McDermid 54.847
Smith 55.124
SedanMan (Schepergerdes) 55.508
Heinricy 55.584
Stevens 56.156
Ellis 56.360
Sloe 56.364

I'm guessing that Fred's 51 indicates he knows a shortcut:)
I'm also guessing that we need to learn how to pronounce SedanMan's name correctly. Nice job to all.

Here's the shortcut: http://leaderboard.vfx.com/SCCA/Runoffs/LiveTiming.asp?Class=AS

Does anyone know what the AS track record is runing the Runoffs layout?

I believe that 54.0 is the new record...

Look for that time to be removed, per the steward, when the timing loops are looked at. I'll bet that time the will never be posted or seen by the other competitors...

Actually, there are 4: Monday thru Thursday with Friday being the first day of races. It used to be there were 2 practice and 2 qual. They then went to 1 practice and 3 qual. Now, all sessions are timed (they were always "timed" before) and go towards qualifying.

It might also be to encourage pre-race testing. But that would seem like the owners of the facility would be looking to get more competitor money in their pockets. That can't be true can it?

You got it. The Monday times counting towards qualifying is new for this year. And based on the forecast, the top of the grid might not change much for the rest of the week. Except that every lap Andy runs is adding to his learning curve. Same with Hosni too.

Should be fun to watch. Well, maybe not that much fun since I'm watching instead of doing...

Same for Bill too ;)

Sloe had a mechanical failure or off that led to a corner station being yellow for most of the session. That would be why he ran only 3 laps...

Tom....

Thanks for the reporting. Circumstances here have forced me to cancel my trip so any information you can provide will help take some of the sting out.

Who the Hell is Fred Gaulter 1:51:04.
Read above regarding his time. He is now a little more (in)famous than he was yesterday...

That time was not only disallowed, looks like he had other times taken away for his shortcut. Go here for the final results: http://www.scca.com/Event/Result.asp?Ref2=350

You ever wonder if anybody says: Who the hell is Dwaine?

EDIT: Fixed the link, because the :censored: SCCA site is so intuitive.

Too bad Kumho doesn't make multiple (ie, softer) compounds in the AS tire size so that a person could use a sticky autocross set in qualifying and a harder road race set for the race. A softer compound and at least one clean lap would make qualifying a lot more fun. :)

At least I can enjoy my 24 hours of fame to claim I outqualified JH until he kicks my (our) butt either in qualifying or in the race. All that matters is who stands on the top step at the end of the race and I have a feeling the Fat Lady hasn't sung yet....

Ed could be going for the triple crown.

Ed could be going for the triple crown.
Should Ed win the Runoffs, he WILL BE the winner of the AS Triple Crown.
June Sprints AS winner
Division Points Champ (CenDiv)
Runoffs AS Champ

Not something done that often, so it would be impressive.
