From the MidSouth Website:
Mid South Region SCCA March 14-15 Double National Race Cancelled
Monday, March 02, 2009 by wdeming

On March 1, the March 14-15 Mid South Region SCCA Double National race weekend was cancelled by a joint decision of Mid Div officials and representatives of the Mid South Region. The Mid South Region did not have the required licensed workers needed for the safe and efficient management of this race.

The Mid South Region is faced with the incredible challenge of rebuilding the local worker base. What happens will determine the future of our region's racing program.

The decision to cancel the race was not a decision that was made easily. Thank you to the people who worked hard to make the March race happen. Our sincerest apologies to those who were inconvenienced by the cancellation.

Per a post by Phil Harris on the Prodcar Board, there is a possibility this weekend may be rescheduled in June - nothing is certain at this time.

Just getting the word out -

Ouch...this isn't a good sign.

Thanks for posting Kelley.

Ouch...this isn't a good sign.
Worker count has been an issue long before the economy got soft. Some regions/divisions struggle more than others. Maybe it will get better if GM and Chrysler are allowed to fold...

Last year, at this same event, I was asked, on Saturday morning, how I would feel if they pulled the plug on the event. This is after a 450 mile tow. Needless to say, I told them I would be pissed. The problem then, and still, is a lack of workers. They ran the event last year, even though they were short of qualified workers. For that I was grateful.
In the case of Memphis, I was told that there were some other issues, with politics, hurt feelings and power plays within the worker system, that caused some workers to not participate. So, it was not all the economy. I'm not sure that what I was told it true, or not, but I think it is.

I understand the worker problem had been solved by March 1, but they only have a total of 39 entrys. If you look at the St. Louis national coming up, they only have 41 entrys as of today; so if you want to race ENTER.
